13. Using Encrypted Log-on Information

This feature (and all support for encrypted account names and passwords) was removed from HotkeyNet in build 148. It may be restored in the future if enough users want it.

Support for encrypted account names and passwords has been added to HotkeyNet in build 141. This allows your hotkeys to log into games automatically without storing sensitive information in your files.

HotkeyNet encrypts your passwords and account names with the 256-bit AES protocol, the same one used by banks and governments. You supply a master password to encrypt and decrypt these words.

HotkeyNet never saves the master password in any form, and the AES protocol can't be broken, so even if your files are stolen, your account info will be safe.

Step by step instructions

1. Go to the Actions Menu, select Encrypt Log-On Info, and enter your passwords and account names.

2. Use GetMasterPassword in the hotkey definition that launches your game.

3. Use the following commands to type your decrypted account names and passwords into the game's log-on screen:

The following script launches and renames World of Warcraft. The hotkey (below the command) contains GetMasterPassword, %Account#%, and %Password#%.
